Interior Painting in Collingwood

Interior painters for houses, cottages, and chalets across southern Georgian Bay. Walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and stairs, finished properly and handed back clean.

Exposed timber rafters above a Clarksburg living room, the walls and ceiling boards between them painted clean white.

Residential Interior Painting, Room by Room

Most of our interior work is straightforward house painting: a room that has gone tired, a whole floor before furniture arrives, or a chalet being turned around between seasons. Ten years of it, across Collingwood, Blue Mountain, Thornbury, and Creemore.

The difference with an interior is that you live right up against it. A roller mark on the ceiling, or a wavy line where the wall meets the trim, is something you will spot every evening for years. So we spend most of the time on prep and cutting in, and leave the rolling until everything underneath is right.

What We Paint Inside

A bedroom painted in a soft warm white, with two windows onto a snowy garden and a beaded pendant light overhead.

Walls

Filled, sanded, and spot primed before anything else happens. Then two coats of Benjamin Moore in a sheen that suits the room: something washable for a hallway with kids and dogs, something flatter for a bedroom.

A vaulted ceiling painted white above an arched window in a Snowbridge chalet, with a single pendant hanging from the peak.

Ceilings

Ceilings catch the light all day, so they show every shortcut. We cut them in by hand at the wall line and roll them in one pass, keeping a wet edge the whole way across so you are not left looking at lap marks.

A freshly painted hallway leading to a staircase with a black metal railing and wide plank floors.

Trim, doors, and stairs

Baseboard, casing, crown, railings, and doors, sanded between coats for a finish you can run a hand along. Hinges and hardware come off rather than getting taped around, because taped hardware always shows.

A double vanity beneath two black framed mirrors and wall sconces, with painted walls and panelling either side.

New builds and additions

Fresh drywall soaks up primer unevenly and shows every seam, so we seal it properly before any colour goes on. We work around whichever trades are still finishing, and hand the place over ready for furniture rather than ready for touch-ups.

A Full Chalet Interior in Blue Mountain

A full interior re-paint of their home, plus a full interior paint job of their newly built addition. Walls, ceilings, trim, and doors throughout, finished in Benjamin Moore so the new addition and the original house read as one building rather than two.

What people say about our interior work

Jake and the team at Mountain Wood Painting did a great job of the interior of our chalet in The Blue Mountains. Aleks' attention to detail was outstanding and their customer service was on point. I would definitely recommend their services and would hire them again!

How an Interior Job Runs

The same sequence every time, whether it is one room or a whole house.

  1. We protect the room first

Furniture moved to the middle and wrapped, floors covered wall to wall, fixtures and hardware removed. Nothing gets painted until the room is ready to be painted in.

  2. Repairs, sanding, and primer

Nail holes, dents, hairline cracks, and old patches filled and sanded flat. Bare drywall, water stains, and anything glossy gets primed, because paint over an unprimed patch flashes a different sheen once it dries.

  3. Two coats of Benjamin Moore

Every edge cut in by brush, rolled while that edge is still wet, then a second full coat. We do two coats on everything. One coat can look fine on the day and go patchy within a year.

  4. Cleaned up daily, walked at the end

The room is put back and swept at the end of every day rather than only at the end of the job. When the work is finished we walk it with you, in daylight, and fix anything you point at before we load the van.

Interior Painting Questions

Can we stay in the house while you paint?

Almost always, yes. We work room by room so you keep the rest of the house, seal off the active area, and put each room back at the end of the day. Kitchens and main stairwells are the two that need planning, and we will tell you in advance which days those will be awkward.

Do you paint ceilings as well as walls?

Yes, and we would usually recommend it. Repainting walls under an old ceiling tends to make the ceiling look grey by comparison, because the new wall colour is reflecting light the tired ceiling is not. Ceilings are quoted separately so the choice stays yours.

Can you match a colour that is already on the wall?

Usually, yes. We can take a chip from an out of the way spot and have it read on a colour matching machine, which gets close enough that a patched wall reads as one colour. Where a room has faded unevenly in sunlight, repainting the whole wall is the honest answer and we will say so.

Do you repair walls before painting?

Nail holes, dents, hairline cracks, failed patches, and lifting tape are all part of the prep and are included. Larger drywall damage, water damage, or plaster work gets flagged in the estimate with a price, so nothing appears as a surprise once we have started.

Will the house smell of paint?

Far less than it used to. The Benjamin Moore products we use for interiors are low odour and low VOC, and rooms are ventilated as we go. Most people are comfortable in a repainted room the same evening, though we would still open a window overnight.

Do you paint cottages and chalets that sit empty part of the year?

Regularly. Seasonal properties are some of our favourite interior work because we can run without disruption, and shoulder season is usually the easiest time to book. We can hold keys, coordinate with your property manager, and send photos as the job progresses.
