Custom Home Painting in Collingwood
Interior and exterior repaints for custom-built homes across southern Georgian Bay. The timber, the cedar shakes, the tall ceilings, and the millwork, prepped with care and finished to the standard the home was built to.

The Right Crew for a Custom Home Repaint
A custom home is not a standard repaint. There is timber that was hand fitted, cedar shakes chosen for the grain, ceilings that go up two storeys, and millwork nobody wants a roller mark on. The surfaces cost more, the finishes are harder to match, and a rushed job shows from the driveway.
We have been painting custom homes around Collingwood, Blue Mountain, Thornbury, and Creemore for ten years, most of them for the second or third time in their life. Full interior repaints in Benjamin Moore Regal Select, exteriors sanded back to clean wood and restained, and the beams, trim, and doors that make these houses what they are. Same crew every day, and a walk around with you before we call it finished.

What a Custom Home Repaint Takes
Homeowners call us when the house is due for its first repaint. Builders send us to homes they finished years ago, because they want them looked after the way they were built. Either way, this is what you get.
We start with what the home needs
Every custom home is different, and so is the preparation it requires. Interior walls, ceilings, trim, doors, cabinetry, woodwork, siding, stucco, cedar, and other exterior surfaces are all assessed individually before work begins. Depending on the condition of the surface, preparation may include washing, sanding, scraping, caulking, filling, priming, or removing failed coatings. We determine what each surface needs before we quote the project so there are no shortcuts or surprises later.
Protection first, one area at a time
Protecting your home is just as important as painting it. Inside, hardwood floors, stone, cabinetry, furniture, glass, fixtures, and millwork are carefully covered before preparation or painting begins. Outside, landscaping, windows, roofing, stonework, decks, and surrounding surfaces are protected from dust, overspray, paint, and stain. For interior projects, we work through the home one area at a time so your space remains as clean, organized, and liveable as possible.
Products chosen for the surface
Different surfaces require different coatings, which is why we select products based on the specific needs of your home. For interiors, we use premium Benjamin Moore products such as Regal Select for walls and ceilings and durable trim enamels for doors, baseboards, casings, and millwork. Exterior surfaces may require Benjamin Moore exterior coatings, Woodluxe stains, specialty primers, or transparent and solid stains depending on the material and desired finish. If your builder or designer has specified a particular product or finish, we can match it.
A fixed price in writing
Before your project begins, you receive a detailed written estimate outlining the surfaces being painted, preparation required, products being used, number of coats, project schedule, and total price. On a custom home repaint, expectations should be clear from the beginning. Our goal is to make sure you know exactly what is included before our team arrives.
A schedule you can live with
We plan custom home repaints around your home, your schedule, and the scope of the project. Interior work is typically completed room by room or area by area so your home remains functional while work is underway. Exterior projects are scheduled around weather conditions, with appropriate flexibility built into the timeline. From the beginning, you will know what we are working on, when we expect to be there, and what comes next.
Professionalism & Responsiveness
Clear communication is a major part of a successful painting project. Throughout your repaint, the MountainWood Painting team and your project manager remain available to answer questions, provide updates, and address anything that comes up along the way. From the initial estimate through the final walkthrough, our goal is to make the process organized, professional, and as stress-free as possible.
A Custom Home in the Hills of Creemore
This custom home was given a full exterior transformation that really highlights its beauty and uniqueness. All cedar shakes were stained with 2 coats of Benjamin Moore Woodluxe solid stain. All trim, beams, and doors were painted with 2 coats of Benjamin Moore exterior paint. All window frames on the home were carefully prepped, and then painted with 2 coats.

The owner, on that job
Jake prepared a detailed quote for painting cedar shakes, trim and windows of my rural home. A week of prep followed by spraying, roll and brush. Aleks and crew came daily except for weekends and rain days until completion. Professional workmanship and communication. I am happy with the result. I would use MWP again for future painting.
How a Custom Home Repaint Runs
The same four steps on every house, with more time on the first one.
Walk the house together
Before we begin, we take the time to understand your home, your priorities, and the result you are looking for. We review the project with you, identify any areas that need special attention, and make sure the scope, products, colours, and expectations are clear before work begins.
Protect Your Home
Before any preparation or painting starts, we carefully protect the areas surrounding our work. Our team treats your home with respect throughout the entire project, keeping the workspace organized, clean, and protected from start to finish.
Prepare and Paint with Care
A great finish starts with proper preparation. Our team completes the necessary prep for each surface before applying premium coatings using professional techniques and careful attention to detail. We never rush the steps that determine how your finished project will look and perform.
Final Walkthrough
Once the project is complete, we walk everything with you and take care of any final details before considering the job finished. Our goal is simple: to leave you with a finished product that meets our standards and that you are proud to have in your home.

Custom Home Painting Questions
How often should a custom home be repainted or restained?
Interiors usually go ten years or more between repaints. Outside it depends on the product: solid stain lasts around ten years, and transparent stain wants recoating every two to three years so the wood never has to be fully sanded again. We tell you where your house is on that clock when we come out.
Our cedar shakes and timber have gone grey. Is it too late?
No. Grey wood is weathered, not ruined. It gets sanded back to clean wood and restained with two coats, and it comes back. The longer it is left the more sanding it takes, so it is cheaper to call sooner rather than later.
Can you match the colours and sheens the builder or designer used?
Yes. If you have the schedule, we price and order to it. If the record is gone, we match from the wall and show you a sample before anything goes on.
I built the house. Can I send my clients to you?
Yes, and builders around here do. Give them our number or send them this page. We look after the home the way you built it, we keep the same crew on it, and we call you if we find something you would want to know about.
How do you protect the floors and millwork?
Floors get covered edge to edge, cabinetry and built-ins are wrapped, and stone and glass are masked before a can is opened. We work one area at a time so the rest of the house stays usable while we are in it.
Do you do both the inside and the outside?
Yes, and on a custom home we usually end up doing both over time. On a Creemore custom home we stained the cedar shakes and painted every piece of trim, beam, door, and window frame, and on a Clarksburg custom home we repainted every wall and ceiling inside in Regal Select.
